Questions & answers
The things people ring to ask
Every answer here is the same one you would get from the front desk. If yours is not here, telephone — the number rings at reception, not in a call centre.
Rooms and tariffs
- What types of room does Hotel Grand Star have?
We have 3 types of room: Superior Room (about 450 sq ft), Deluxe Room (about 500 sq ft), Executive Suite (about 950 sq ft). Every one is air-conditioned, with a private attached bathroom, an in-room safety locker and complimentary Wi-Fi.
- How much is a room at Hotel Grand Star, Davangere?
Tariffs start at ₹5,800 per room per night, including GST.
Rates vary by season, so the figure we quote when we confirm your booking is the figure you pay. There is no charge for booking direct, and no charge for parking or Wi-Fi.
- How big are the rooms?
From 450 to 950 square feet. The largest is the Executive Suite, which has a living room separate from the bedroom.
- Can I get twin beds instead of a double?
Yes. Our Superior Room and Deluxe Room can both be made up either as two twin beds or as one king-size bed. Tell us which you want when you book and the room will be made up that way.
- Is breakfast included in the room rate?
Breakfast is served at our restaurant from 7:30 am. Whether it is included depends on the rate you book, so ask when you confirm and we will tell you plainly.
Check-in and check-out
- What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is from 1 pm and check-out is by 11 am.
Reception is staffed 24 hours, so a late arrival is never a problem — tell us roughly when to expect you and somebody will be at the desk.
- Can I check in early or check out late?
Both are possible and both depend on the day. Early check-in is subject to the room being free, and a late check-out is usually fine if nobody is arriving into that room. Ask at the desk rather than assuming, and we will tell you straight away.
- What documents do I need at check-in?
A government photo ID for every adult guest — Aadhaar, a driving licence, a passport or a voter ID. This is a legal requirement for hotels in Karnataka, not a hotel rule, and we cannot check anybody in without it.
Foreign nationals should bring a passport and visa, which we are required to record.
- What is the cancellation policy?
Cancelling is free up to 24 hours before your check-in date.
Every booking confirmation email carries a cancellation link, so you can cancel yourself without telephoning. After that window, call the front desk and we will do what we reasonably can.
- How do I pay?
We accept cash, UPI, cards and bank transfer at the front desk.
Booking on this website does not take a payment — you are reserving the room, and you settle the bill at the hotel.
Families and guests
- Do children stay free?
Children up to the age of 7 stay free when they share the bedding already in the room.
If you need an extra bed, it is ₹1,500 per night. Say so when you book so we can put you in a room with the floor space for it.
- Are pets allowed at Hotel Grand Star?
Yes. Please tell us when you book so we can allocate a suitable room.
- Is the hotel accessible for a wheelchair?
There is step-free access from the entrance and a lift to every floor. Please mention a wheelchair when you book and we will put you in the most convenient room on the most convenient floor.
Dining
- What are our restaurant's opening hours?
our restaurant is open from 7:30 am to 11 pm, seven days a week.
It seats 120, so a large group can usually be seated without booking — though a call ahead never hurts.
- What kind of food does the restaurant serve?
North Indian, South Indian, Chinese and Continental, from breakfast through to dinner.
Davangere benne dosa is made to order, there is a pure vegetarian section, and the kitchen will cook Jain or no-onion-no-garlic on request.
- Is there room service?
Yes, 24 hours a day. Order from your room at any hour.
- Does Hotel Grand Star have a bar?
Yes. The Bar & Lounge is open from 10 am to 11 pm.
It is a quiet room rather than a noisy one — somewhere to sit after a day's work or while you wait for a table.
Banquets and conferences
- How many guests does the banquet hall hold?
Parvathi Pearls (1,650 sq ft) seats 300 theatre-style, 80 in a U-shape or 80 at round tables. Conference Hall (1,292 sq ft) seats 120 theatre-style or 30 in a U-shape.
Capacity depends on the layout, so tell us the number of guests and what the occasion is and we will tell you which hall and which arrangement fits.
- Can I hold a wedding reception at Hotel Grand Star?
Yes. Parvathi Pearls is the hall most Davangere families book for a wedding or a reception: it seats 300 theatre-style and has its own attached dining area and its own kitchen, so guests eat beside the hall and the food leaves hot.
Catering is from our own kitchen, vegetarian and non-vegetarian, and rooms for guests travelling in can be held at the same time as the hall.
- Is there a conference room for a corporate meeting?
Yes. The Conference Hall is about 1,292 square feet and seats 120 theatre-style or 30 in a U-shape, with a projector and screen fitted.
Because the restaurant and the guest rooms are in the same building, a two-day programme can be run without anybody getting into a car.
- Can we bring our own caterer?
Catering is normally from our own kitchen, which is how we can guarantee the food and the timing. If you have a particular requirement, raise it when you enquire and we will discuss it rather than refuse it out of hand.
Getting here
- How far is the hotel from the railway station?
Davangere railway station is about 3 km away, the bus stand about 4 km, and the nearest airport, Hubballi Airport, about 90 km.
An autorickshaw from the station takes ten minutes or so. Tell reception your train and they will tell you what it should cost.
- Is parking available, and is it free?
Yes, and yes. There is on-site parking for cars and two-wheelers at no charge for resident guests, and parking for guests attending a function in either hall.
Good to know
- Is there Wi-Fi, and does it cost anything?
Complimentary Wi-Fi is available in every guest room and throughout the public areas — the lobby, the restaurant and both halls. There is no charge and no time limit.
- What happens in a power cut?
The whole property runs on generator backup, so the lift, the lights, the air conditioning and the Wi-Fi keep working. It matters more here than it sounds — an evening function is not the place to find out what a power cut does to a sound system.
- Is it cheaper to book direct or through a travel site?
Direct. The tariff on this website is the hotel's own rate with no commission in it, and booking here means the front desk has your request in front of them rather than a note from an agent.
You can also simply telephone — the number rings at the desk, not in a call centre.
Not answered here?
Ask us directly. Reception is staffed around the clock, and a message sent through the website reaches the same desk.
Looking for something else? the rooms, the halls or the restaurant.
